Jack, I swear...

I just got back from Brokeback Mountain...wow. One of the most amazing movies I have ever seen. I wanted to cry at the end, but didn't want to miss a moment of the film. Go see it.

And in other, less emotional news, Yeah, Pittsburgh! Last week cemented my distaste for all things Denver (except my Avs, of course), and this week was the payoff. Steelers all the way.

socially important?? say who? there is nothing socially important about gay - anything. gay is gay - period. if that is your thing, by all means enjoy it but don't foist it those of us who couldn't give a damn. clearly, that is what hollywood and the tv industry has chosen to do in the past 10-15 years in the name of "topical social commentary." are the homophobes? sure. and when gay men and women are persecuted for their lifestyle, the perp(s) should be dealt with according to the law. but show me the proof that it pervades society. the vast majority of people don't spend a minute a day thinking about it. that being the case, there is nothing signficiantly socially important about it. on the other hand, there is certainly a reason to to make it appear thus - particularly if there is some underlying agenda. come on folks, don't naively mistake a cleverly conceived and long-standing marketing campaign for social importance.
