They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the east, beyond them far;
And to the earth it gave great light,
And so it continued both day and night.

Merry Christmas, everyone....

And the answer is...

Traditionally, Boston's tree comes from Halifax as a thank-you for aid given after the 1917 disaster. It was, at the time, the worst man-made disaster the world had ever seen and remained so until Hiroshima at the end of WWII.

I'm going into Boston tonight to see it. :)

Solstice

I hope everyone is safe and warm and cuddled up with a hot whiskey and a glowing Christmas tree on this longest night of the year.

And in other trivial news, can anyone tell me why every year, Boston's city Christmas tree comes from Halifax? Think about it...no cheating!

ARGH!

My first round of finals since undergrad - ugh. I'd forgotten about how much work it can be. Plus Christmas shopping, Christmas cards, Christmas parties, December is going to fly by. But in the meantime, you should read Bucci's new article - it's pretty great, and right on the money. I'll miss Joe Thornton, but not that much. Not as much as I'm sure Denver misses Peter Forsberg...
